The Canvas Snap Tool is designed to install the cap (dome) of the snap directly to the canvas or eyelet post, using one of the two sets of canvas stud and socket dies that come with the tool.
- The cast aluminum plier design provides greater leverage and with not rust in the harsh marine environment
- Set your own snaps (studs or sockets) easily and quickly
- Works on the dome (cap) side or the eyelet post
- Stainless steel dies and aluminum body resist rust and corrosion
- Great value compared to cheaper models that break easily, or the much more expensive locking plier options
Instructions
- Screw in one of the two dies needed, either the cap and anvil socket or the post and stud anvil. The cap anvil and the flat post anvil both use the same setting die.
- When using the cap socket, push the cap post through the hole in the canvas and place the socket on the post. NOTE: Make sure the stud or socket is on the correct side of the canvas before you set the snap!
- Make sure the fabric is pushed tight against the cap and the socket or the cap and the stud is centred over the post before firmly squeezing the tool shut (canvas should be sandwiched between the two snap pieces).
- Squeeze firmly and then check to see if the snap is tight and the post has been rolled over. It it's not tight, re-squeeze.
- When replacing a broken snap, carefully remove and make sure the hole is not enlarged. If it is enlarged, an extra piece of fabric or interfacing placed over the hole is needed.
