Salmon in the Sunshine
2019 Mar 29th
Winter has finally ended, we seem to have skipped over spring and gone straight into summer. The salmon however are still on their normal schedule. While it has been hit and miss locally for the last week there is a large school of Chinook heading our way. At the time I'm writing this they have just started reaching the Winchelsea Island area. Reports from French Creek to Campbell River are excellent and indicate a lot of fish headed our way. The fish we had locally have mostly moved South to Pollier Pass and beyond. Big Eye spoons in Avocado Dream and Reel Man as well as Gibbs Skinny G's in Bon Chovy have been effective.
The herring still haven't spawned around Nanaimo, but they may still do so. When they finish fishing will pick up.
Prawning is still incredibly good in all the normal locations
