Fishing Report For January20 2022
Winter fishing continues to be excellent in most of the normal locations. So far this year is shaping up to be one of the best winter fisheries in years.
Positive reports are coming in from French Creek, Sangster Island, Entrance Island, Gabriola Island, and Porlier Pass.
The fish are consistently larger than normal for this time of year. Reports of a 17 lb spring being boated North of Nanaimo have been making the rounds.
Small plugs and large spoons (such as Lemon Lime Loony Spoon) fished with a dummy flasher have been working, and will limit the amount of undersized fish hooked.
Smaller spoons like Silver Hordes #310 Chartreuse/Silver/Green spoon and T-Rex hootchies have also been effective.
Chartreuse glow and green glow flashers have been the best for the depths we are fishing. Average depth is still 200’-220.
As always if you find the bait you will find the fish. If you aren’t hooking fish, try moving.
Keep in mind prawning is closed off Nanaimo, so head South to the Ladysmith area for them.
