Happy New Year. It's Fishing Season Again!

It's a new year and the Winter Springs are definitely here. It's time to fill up any empty slots on your fishing licensee before it expires in March. So brush the snow off your boat, stop snoozing and get out there on the water.

All Georgia Straight fishing areas are reporting excellent catches of nice sized Winter springs. The average size is increasing as the fish load up on herring. Depths are typically deep. Bobby Myers of Silva Blue Charters reports lot's of nice sized Springs 220ft down around Entrance Island. His best lure was an undisclosed small spoon. Although knowing him, it was probably Killy Magee or Cookies and Cream. South of Thrasher Rock blue/green hootchies at 180ft have proven to be effective.

To the North around French Creek Green Hornet Spirit Spoon was the best.

Prawning around Tent Island is good, and open.

Crabbing is picking up from last year.
