Ling Cod and Bass
Posted by Steve Vavrik on 2022 May 26th
Lingcod fishing has continued to be good in the Nanaimo area. Best lures have been burbot swimbaits, and real herring on a spreader bar. Try a glow spreader bar and glow cannon ball as an additional attractant.
West coast salmon fishing has been hot. In Nootka Big Eye Betsy spoons with a gold Betsy flasher has been the winning combo.
In Barkley Sound and off Port Renfrew Wee G Aztec spoons with purple glow/embossed flashers was the most effective set up.
As the weather warms up so does the Bass fishing. Many South Island lakes hold great Bass fishing opportunities. Late May and early June is bass spawning month. This makes them very aggressive, so now is the best time to head out bass fishing. Our secret bass gear section is almost all filled with the best bass gear available. If you want to see it you have to ask our tackle staff. Or shop online by using the following link. Bass Tackle department.
Thanks to Coastal Blue Adventures for the nice father daughter lingcod photo at the top of this post.
