Mid December Report

Georgia Straight winter Chinook fishing is going very well this year. The average size of the fish is larger than normal. This means most fishermen are getting at least one legal sized fish per trip. Entrance Island to Thrasher rock has been holding fish along the 200ft contour line. Also surprisingly there have been fish at Neck Point as well.
Two Harbour Chandler staff went out December 8th to Entrance Island and had an excellent day. With four keepers around 9lbs each. There best lure was the new Spirit spoon in lemon lime colours. The fish all came from around 200ft. They likely would have done better if they had remembered to put hooks on both their spoons. So if you see Bill or Steve R on the water give them a friendly reminder to always put a hook on your lure.
Howe Sound has been incredibly good lately. With excellent reports from the Vancouver guides.
Best lures have been glow plugs like Tomic 602uvbii run deep with a glow dummy flasher. Loony spoons in glow patterns like Green hornet also with a dummy flasher, have been working well.
Prawning has been hit and miss, with mixed reports, Although when some guys are doing well, and some aren’t it normally has to do with the experience level of the fishermen.
In local rivers the winter Steelhead is just starting to kick off. The early arrivals are starting to show, and it only will get better from here.
Coho is winding down, and bottom fishing for trout is still working.
