Prawning Season Is Here!!

April is the best month for Prawning in Georgia Straight. We had great numbers just before it closed, so this April should bring large catches. Remember to wight your traps down, as prawns don't like a trap that's moving at all. Stock up early as supplies may be limited this year.

Salmon fishing has been great this last week. Some boats report up to 30 chinook caught and released in one trip. One local fisherman said that the bite seemed to go on all day. Depths and locations were pretty standard for this time of year. That is, 200 ft down off the East side of Gabriola and Valdez. However there were several reports of decent fish at Fingers Island and even right off Pipers Lagoon. This indicates fish moving into close to shore already.

Black Reflex Coyote spoons, and skinny G Green Herring Aid and Original Herring Aid where the best spoons for the week. Homeland Security and Chartreus Hot Dot proved to be the best flashers.

In the store this week we finally received our order of new Coyote spoons, including Party Girl and all the other top colours patterns. We also got in Beckman nets. These are the best salmon landing nets that we are aware of. Come in and check them out.
