Rain and River Fishing
Posted by Steve Vavrik on 2022 Oct 20th
It looks like at long last the rain is on it's way. This should kick off our river fishing season into high gear. Many rivers have been too low to allow the salmon to move up them. With the expected rainfall this should improve our opportunities. (Always check your local regulations for in season changes)
Here in the store we have just about finished building our fresh water fishing selection. It includes all the gear needed for salmon, steelhead or trout fishing. This includes several custom designed casting spoons (as seen in picture above) and all the twitching jigs, soft baits and spinners a fresh water fisherman could need.
In other store news our Bass section is also nearing completion and has the biggest and best selection of Bass tackle in Western Canada.
With the rain coming saltwater salmon fishing will slow down for Chinook. But Coho and Chum opportunities will continue for another month or so. We have pre-rigged Chum hoochies and Coho Killers for these fisheries.
Prawning has been very good lately. Be aware the pulse fishing in Stuart Channel and off Ladysmith is in effect. Currently open in the second half of the month. We have the hard to get Bauer Traps in stock right now. These traps are made on Vancouver Island and have proven to be the most effective traps we have ever tried.
