Winter Springs Like Spring Rolls

Winter Spring Fishing continues to be as good or better than most years. Weather has been hit and miss, but if you can get on the water you should get into fish. They are running deep as is typical for this time of year. Braided downrigger line and the largest cannonball your downrigger can handle will help. Right now you want to be right on the bottom with your gear. Following contour lines at around 200ft.
Tent Island and Salt Spring Island are reporting good catches of legal sized springs. Best lure has been Spring Roll skinny G's. Try trolling the bottom around the reef just north of Tent. The fish move from one side to the other of the reef depending on the tide.
Entrance Island is holding lots of bait on the bottom, just North East of the reef. 3.5 silver blue or Maverick spoons seem to be working best. 230ft on the downrigger was the magic number earlier this week.
French Creek and Hornby still seem to be holding the largest fish. More reports of fish in the high teens coming from there. The race is on to see whos going to get the first 20 pound fish of the season.
Prawning has been excellent in areas that it is open, with continued limits being taken around tent Island.
In Harbour Chandler news we are finally getting big shipments of rods and reels. Sourcing gear has been difficult for the last couple years, but we are loaded up now.
Tops up,
