Egg Eaters

Egg eater Cutthroat and Coho fishing has been good for the last week, and should be excellent this weekend. The heavy rains did not blow out the rivers too much as much of it fell as snow in the mountains. Now with this cold crisp weather we should see perfect conditions on East Vancouver Island rivers. Check water levels before going, but even the Stamp should be very fishable unless weather changes and more rain comes.

To target egg eater Cutthroat (like the one in the photo above) and Coho use 8-12mm soft Unreel or BNR beads under a clear 20gram Beau Mac Torpedo Float. Make sure to use high quality invisible line like Seaguar Blue Label.

Steelhead season if about to kick off. Check out our supply of Simms wadersboots and accessories to stay warm and dry on the river this winter.

In the Salt Chuck there are still chrome Coho to be found and winter Chinook are showing up in good numbers. To target these immature Chinook fish cop car or white lightning spoons right on the bottom.

Unfortunately Chum has been closed in the salt water due to low returns to the Fraser. The Nanaimo river seems to have good numbers of Chums.

Prawning and crabbing is still good and shellfish harvesting season is here. Remember to buy a clam gauge if you are going clamming. There is size restrictions in place on clams.

Tips up!
