The Home Stretch

We are into the home stretch for this seasons Chinook run. The big Chinook are here and with the slot sized removed it time to target them. Over all most reports for the week have been slow for Chinook and decent for Coho. But some guys are doing very well for big Chinook. If you are not doing well it's time to change your fishing style for this time of the year. The big springs are holding near the bottom close to shore waiting for the rains. Try large blue or purple spoons like Northern King Iceberg Spirit Lures Night Magic and pair with Purple Haze flashers. Run your gear slow and right off the bottom around 150-200 feet down. Scent is critical because for these big boys, as they are less interested in feeding, but a good scent like Herring Smelly Jelly will trigger a bite.
The Coho are still everywhere with really nice sized ones to be had. Maverick spoons and Blue Meanie Hoochies are working well for the Coho. Up Island there are some areas that are now open for wild Coho so as always check your local area regulations.
We have a new hilarious lingcod lure that is working really well. It's a bass top water snake by savage gear. But if you run it off your downrigger the lings will love it. It has a great action, plus nobody will believe you when you pull up to the dock with your lingcod and this crazy lure.
