Tyees Rolling In!

For the last week I've been getting great reports from the Porlier Pass and Sansum narrows area for big Chinook. I saw one fisherman with multiple Tyees caught on one trip to Porlier. I'm not sure if these are Frasier River fish heading East through the pass, or Island fish heading West. But I do know they are hitting on needlefish lures. The best have been the Lure Jensen Koho King in Herring Aid, and the West Coast Tackle Fish-e in Blue Haze. I expect Silver Horde Coho Killers would also be effective. Pair your spoon with Oki Black Herring Aid flashers and troll slow.

Closer to Nanaimo we are still doing well for Coho. Blue Meanie hoochies and Gibbs Phantom Skinny G's in Blue Silver have been the top lures, With Black Onion the best flasher.

Also prawning has been picking up around Nanaimo. Just a heads up, there has been a regulation change to prawn traps. The have to have a rot cord escape hole now. Check the fisheries website for the details. We have retrofit kits for Bauer Traps in stock.

The rivers continue to heat up for fishing as the cool down in temperature. We should see a big push of fish heading into the fresh water over the next couple days.
