Perfect Fishing Weather

With the cool nights and warm days we are having a great fall for fishing. The rivers have started to cool off enough to get fish to bite more vigorously. While the bite is still better early in the day there is starting to be more action later in the day. Early season sees things dry up as soon as the sun hits the water, but with the cooler temperatures the salmon, steelhead and trout are becoming more active.
For salmon in the rivers spinners like Blue Fox Vibrax in Nickle, green/chartreuse and Hot Chartreuse Flying C's have been the top producers. Gibbs Koho casting spoons in Herring Aid are also coming into their own, with
In the ocean we are still having good Coho fishing around Nanaimo and some really good reports from the Port Renfrew area. Coho killers in orange like Skinny G Outfitter and Goldstar Glow Black Two-Face have caught the most fish.
Also there are already plenty of winter springs showing up off French Creek, Sangster Reef and Entrance Island. These fish are feeding heavily and are easy to get to bite. Small glow white spoons like Goldstar Cookies and Cream and Phat-e Ghost White paired with Oki Green Phantom or Gibbs Watermark White flashers work for these smaller Chinook
