River Fishing Still Going!
2024 Nov 21st
With the heavy rain you may think the river fishing season is over, but that is not the case. The rain has pushed a lot of the fish upstream, but it has also pulled some fresh ones into the systems. There are a bunch of sealions following them into the lower Nanaimo river the last few days, which means there are defiantly fish there.
When the water is as high as now consider fishing the side channels. Twiching jigs for Coho fished on the bottom will work in these conditions. Purple, Black and Blue have been the top colours. It you find some water calm enough to drift beads in run brighter and bigger beads than you normally would. In muddy water you need highly visible beads like BnR Shrimp in 20mm to stand out to the fish. Sometimes ridiculously large ones will be the best choice. Also increase your float and weight sizes to deal with the current.
In the ocean the winter fishing was good up until the storm. I don't expect any reports for the next little bit. But Prior to the storm I had a couple great reports for the French Creek and Nanoose. Try trolling 3.5" Pink Sink at 150ft behind Purple Footloose Flashers. The other top lures combo has been OAL 12 R hoochies behind a Double Gold Mirror flashers. It would seem that gold is the flasher colour of choice still.
A heads up our big Black Friday sale is coming up, November 29th. There will be deals on select items.
