Best Chinook Year Since the 1980's

Just a quick update: Nanaimo fishing and all of Georgia Straight is incredible fishing this year. Fishermen are reporting catching more than 30 legal Chinook in an afternoon. Five Fingers and Thrasher Rock have been best for Chinook. Everything is working, from spoons to Apex's. Big plugs for the larger fish have been effective..The Coho are out at the Spoil Grounds at 120-150 ft. Sonic edge spoons have been best for them. Chinook are scheduled to open for retention on the 15th of this month. Lingcod fishing is still good, and prawning is picking up after the commercial season. I will be away for a bit for shoulder surgery, but will attempt to get short updates for this report when I'm able. Tips up, Stephen Vavrik
