Coho Opening

Just a short update on current fishing conditions.
There is excellent catch and release fishing for Chinook in most locations. Fish up to 25 pounds have been caught around Entrance Island. Loony Spoons and silver knight Gold star spoons have been best.
The big news is Coho is opening June 1st for 2 hatchery fish. There will be many more clipped hatchery Coho do to the good work of the Nanaimo Hatchery staff and volunteers. Best lure will be small blue spoons, and TKO 1.5" Kokanee lures.
Lingcod fishing has been very good with a decent amount of surprise halibut caught as well. See my July edition of Island Fishermen Magazine for an in-depth review of Georgia Straight Halibut fishing.
Prawning has really picked up from April. Although Crabbing is somewhat slow.
