Coho Show
2019 May 4th
I've had several fishermen report Coho showing up Off Five Finger Island, Entrance Island and down at Porlier Pass. While not yet open for retention, this is still a great sign for us.
The Chinook run is incredibly good right now, with 20 fish trips very possible. The best lure lately seems to be 'The Pickle' by big eye spoons. But with few people fishing it's hard to say that other lures might have been just as good. I even know of a twenty pound Chinook biting a large white lingcod swim-bait.
Lingcod fishing has been strong with good success in the normal locations.
Prawning and crabbing is still great. I have one unconfirmed report of a Snow crab being caught in local waters. I'd love more info on that if anyone knows the fisherman.
