Unlike conventional bottom paints where the toxicants must leach out through a hard permanent paint film, ablative paints expose fresh toxicants by wearing away at a controlled rate. Pettit Horizons has a high cuprous oxide content and the latest ablative copper polymer technology to provide superior controlled rate bottom protection. Unlike conventional bottom paints where the toxicants must leach out through a hard permanent paint film, ablative paints expose fresh toxicants by wearing away at a controlled rate. For this reason, ablatives don't need as high a cuprous oxide content as conventional paints. Even so, Horizons has more cuprous oxide than many conventional paints, ensuring exceptional antifouling performance, even under severe fouling conditions. Due to Horizons' ablative action, buildup is greatly reduced along with labour and expense. Horizons may be hauled and relaunched without recoating.
